I think I have to admit defeat in a way. I was fully planning on making my own customized blog software with an offline editor.
Well, time is running out. I think I’ll have to punt and use something else.
The requirements I have for this software (client & server package)
- Offline editing capability
- Offline image handling with image management
- Links pictures to the post they are associated with
- Attached content – like KMZ files or the like
- Customizable formatting
The real key requirement is offline handling. I plan on writing when I have a chance. When I have a chance and when I have Internet access are very likely going to be different times.
I’ve settled with a combination of the following:
- Microsoft Live Writer
- DotNetBlogEngine
- Hosted at GoDaddy
This has just about everything I want except the image handling. Oh well. I guess I’ll have to make due.
In any case, I’ll be posting images to Fotki when I get back home so people will be able to see full-res pictures. (This wouldn’t be different if I wrote my own)
