So, next year I’ll be heading out to Labrador. The opposite side of Canada. The planning has already begun.
Things that’ll be different next time around:
- More time
- Less milage
- Backup GPS
The Zumo’s going back to Garmin for some service — the screen went out on the replacement unit.
The first Zumo had the well documented problem of the audio getting noisy due to a poor connection between the main unit and the mount. The new unit had the screen flake out. The last thing I want is to not have a map when I’m relying on the electronic maps. I absolutely love Garmin’s support and how well they stand behind their products. I’m thinking of picking up an Oregon to keep in the tank bag or something to use as a backup.
In case you can’t see it, every other scanline is white. It makes for a very low-contrast setup. There’s also some vertical ghosting. (which scanlines are white alternate as if they were interlaced or something)
Garmin’s warranting the repare even though it’s been more than a year. Kudos to them!
