Animals we've seen

First a quick note…we’re in Minot, North Dakota. The “tracker” site has been down. Anyway, a quick review of the animals we’ve seen during our trip across the U.S. and Canada:

Of course you get the usual:

  • Horses of every color, pattern and build
  • Cows also of every color, pattern and build
  • Pigs
  • Deer
  • Bunnies
  • Mice
  • Tiny and loud mountain squirrels
  • And what has over the past few years become common in Ohio, Alpacas.

Then there are the animals we’ve never seen in person in the wild!

  • Buffalo – alone, in herds, on farms, and hanging out in the street…sometimes too far to focus, other times a little too close for comfort
  • Moose – a female who passed through our camp site munching away at her dinner
  • Antelope playing
  • Pheasant – who scampered out of the Montana brush, looked at us like “OH NOES!” and scampered right back in
  • Golden Eagles soaring around Devils Tower
  • Osprey feeding her chicks in an enormous nest on top of a pole at Glacier National Park
  • A FIELD of Prairie Dogs popping up and down like an arcade game
  • Caribou – a small herd of young males, and a mother and baby who we had to follow slowly until they finally turned off the road into the woods (poor baby was so scared he was panting with his mouth open)
  • Ravens
  • Wolf
  • Brown Bears
  • Swallows
  • Warm Water Chub – a special breed of small fish that evolved to be able to survive in hot springs water rather than poach

Photos to come shortly…
